Atelier Santé, Science et globalisation

Pour sa deuxième année, l’Atelier de Doctorant.e.s mensuel à l’EHESS-Paris invite des jeunes chercheurs.ses à présenter leurs recherches et à les discuter autour des thèmes des sciences, la santé et sur des phénomènes tels que la création de marchés, la circulation de savoirs et de personnes, le transfert de technologies, la mondialisation et la globalisation. 

L’atelier envisage créer un espace de dialogue et d’échanges entre des doctorant.e.s et des jeunes chercheurs.ses en histoire, sociologie, anthropologie et d’autres disciplines en sciences sociales travaillant sur ces sujets. Par la présentation et la discussion de nos propres travaux et de ceux des doctorant.e.s et chercheur.se.s invité.e.s, notre but est d’explorer les multiples possibilités, mais aussi les limites des approches relationnelles pour penser la science et la santé dans un monde en train de se globaliser. 

À chaque séance nous discuterons d’un sujet en particulier (un concept, une méthode, une théorie) à partir de la recherche de l’invité.e (30-40 min) et d’un texte d’appui d’un.e autre auteur.e choisi pour complémenter la présentation. Les sujets que nous souhaitons examiner pendant cette année sont les suivants : 

• Innovation, production et industrie
• Construction et régulation de marchés de biens scientifiques et thérapeutiques
• Histoire globale et histoire des sciences et de la santé
• Circulation de savoirs et d’experts
• Construction de frontières et de clivages géographiques (Nord/Sud, Centre/Périphérie, civilisé/sauvage, national/global)
• Diplomatie de la santé et scientifique
• Le rôle des États dans la promotion de la santé
• Santé et migrations
• Santé mentale
• Mondialisation de la santé
• Santé Globale
• Épidémies
• Médecine coloniale et postcoloniale

Informations pratiques

• Les propositions sont à envoyer à sante.science.globalisation@gmail.com jusqu’au 15 octobre 2020, incluant un titre et une brève synthèse de votre communication (environ 200 mots), ainsi que 2 ou 3 dates où vous êtes disponible (dates disponibles : le 17 novembre 2020, le 15 décembre, le 19 janvier 2021, le 16 février, le 16 mars, le 20 avril, le 18 mai, et le 15 juin).  
• Une fois les travaux sélectionnés, nous demanderons un résumé long (1 page) un mois avant la présentation afin de préparer au mieux la discussion. 
• L’Atelier aura lieu tous les 3e mardi du mois de 17 h à 19 h (au Campus Condorcet, Salle 3.11, Centre de colloques, Cours des humanités, 93300 Aubervilliers), du 20 octobre 2020 au 15 juin 2021. En fonction des conditions sanitaires, mais également pour inclure des personnes ne pouvant pas se déplacer à Paris, nous tiendrons toutes les séances en présentiel et en ligne.

   Call for contributions – monthly Atelier on Health, Science and Globalisation

For its second year, the Atelier on Health, Science and Globalisation invites doctoral students and young researchers to present their work in a monthly atelier coordinated by PhD candidates at EHESS – Paris. We are interested in discussing works that address the following themes: science and health related to market creation, knowledge and people circulation, technology transfer, and globalisation. 

This Atelier aims to create a space for discussion and exchanges between doctoral students and young scholars working in history, sociology, anthropology and other social sciences and humanities fields. By presenting and discussing our work, our objective is to explore the multiple possibilities, but also the limits of relational approaches for thinking science and health in a world experiencing globalisation. 

On each meeting, we will discuss a specific topic (a concept, a method or theory) from the presentation of one invited researcher. The presentation and discussion will be complemented by one text by another author to be chosen by the person presenting. Our desired subjects of discussion for this year are 

• Innovation, production and industries in health
• Market Construction and regulation for scientific and therapeutic goods
• Global History and Sciences and Health History
• Circulation of knowledge and experts
• Construction of borders and geographical splits (North/South, Centre/Periphery, civilised/savage, national/global)
• Scientific diplomacy
• States Role in Health Promotion
• Health and migrations
• Mental Health
• Health Globalisation
• Global Health
• Epidemics
• Colonial and postcolonial medicine                   

Please send your proposal to sante.science.globalisation@gmail.com until October 15, 2020, including a title and a summary of your communication (200 words). Please indicate in your email 2 or 3 dates of your convenience (available dates: November 17,2020, December 15^th, January 19^, 2021, February 16^th, March 16^th, April 20^th, May 18^th and June 15^th).  

Once the communications are chosen, we will ask for a long summary (1 page) one month before the presentation to prepare the discussion. 

The Atelier will take place every 3^rd Tuesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Campus Condorcet, Salle 3.11, Centre de colloques, Cours des humanités, 93300 Aubervilliers, from October 20th to June 15^th. All meetings will be held in person and online, allowing us to adapt to the sanitary circumstances and to include researchers who cannot come to Paris.
